Jodhpur has the most dramatic single view in Rajasthan: Mehrangarh rising above a blue painted city. The fort is the headline, but the real pleasure is the way the city changes around it, from old lanes and small shops to rooftop restaurants and quiet heritage hotels.

Jodhpur sits well after Jaipur and before Udaipur, with Jaisalmer as the longer western extension. It is often the emotional peak of a Rajasthan circuit because Mehrangarh carries such a strong presence. Use Jaipur as the opening chapter and Udaipur as the softer finish.
