Amalfi & Positano by Sea
Use Positano as the hotel base and the sea as the easiest way to move. Capri, Amalfi and the smaller coastal stops make more sense from a private boat than from a car in summer traffic.

- Ravello by car when the inland route makes sense
Stay in Positano and use the boat as transport
This trip works best with a hotel base rather than sleeping on a yacht every night. Check into Positano, unpack once, and use a private boat for the days when the water gives you the fastest and most enjoyable route along the coast.
Le Sirenuse is a natural choice if it fits the budget and dates, but the hotel should be chosen around room position, terrace, pool and how much time you plan to spend on property.
Capri needs a full day and an early start
Leave before the busiest traffic on the water. The Blue Grotto is weather dependent and should never be the whole reason for the day. Capri is better when you combine time on the boat with a few hours on land.
If lunch matters, reserve it. If swimming matters more, keep the schedule lighter and let the captain choose the best coves for the conditions.
Amalfi and Ravello are different days
Amalfi makes sense from the water. Ravello does not. For Ravello, use a driver and give the gardens, lunch and views enough time rather than trying to squeeze it between boat stops.
Trying to do every famous village in one day is the fastest way to spend the trip in transit.
Six days is enough if the route is clean
- Arrival through Naples and private transfer to Positano
- One full Capri boat day
- One coastal day toward Amalfi
- One Ravello day by car
- At least one day with nothing fixed
July and August bring heat, crowds and expensive minimum stays. June and September are easier if your dates are flexible. Sea conditions can change the boat plan, so the itinerary should have room to move.
